Our Goals, Plans, and Mission
A Catalyst for Change
Our goal at Medical Dispraties is to work towards elimatinating all health disparities. We have many ideas and plans to aide in our mission. In the very near future, we plan on hosting event nights to inform future and present-day health care workers about how they can help end these disparities, too. We want to host virtual shadowing hours with doctors, nurses, and other health care workers who are breaking the boundaries and stereotypes and creating a safe and equal workplace. Right now, we are working towards educating our growing team so they can learn and advocate for a better healthcare system.
FAQs
What do the subspeciality groups (pediatrics, ob/gyn, geriatrics, etc) do that revolves around health disparities?
Our subspeciality groups first become more educated on their specific topic by learning about the may careers in the field and learning the basics of each speciality. When they have enough knowledge, they will start delving into more niche disparities that affect their speciality. E.g. the process of dying in geriatrics, child abuse in pediatrics, etc.)
If the subspeciality groups focus on health disparities, what does the health disparities committee do?
This committee focuses on more generic health disparities that recquire no background knowledge and affect all aspects of medicine.
